Rare footage of Robert Guillaume as The Phantom, singing Music of the Night (with Dale Kristien as Christine).

Guillaume, who replaced Michael Crawford in the Los Angeles production, is the only African American to have played the title role, and also the oldest actor to ever do so, aged 63 at the time.

He is also noted for having voiced the character of Rafiki in The Lion King and its subsequent sequels and spinoffs.

For the final show in Hamburg, the Phantom (Ian Jon Bourg) and Christine (Colby Thomas) sang a wonderful duet of ‘Music of the Night’ and ‘Think of Me’ combined. It’s quite lovely, and inspired a bunch of headcanons about this being their feelings after the events of Phantom had ended.

Slightly random (and self-promoting), but I would like to say that the video has now been upload to my YouTube and can be seen here.

Reblogging again because I love this arrangement and would kill a man for a studio recording of this.

A full studio version of this (with full orchestra) will be released in a couple of days, sung in English by myself and Brianna. Keep an eye out for it, folks! :D

I might audition for LND when casting calls are announced.

It’ll probably all be equity calls for principle parts and then open calls for ensemble. But hell, I’ma go audition anyway, for the tour or the london production. It’ll be in 2014. Depending on whether My Land’s Shore succeeds in making it to the West End, I could well be an equity member by then once MLS has completed its run. We shall seee…..

So LND is returning to the UK in the form of a Tour and a London production.

The talk is that it will be a replica of the Australian production, and it will come to the UK later this year.

Fuck you all, i’m going to see it.

I like that musical a lot.

The most terrifying Final Lair you will ever see. Performed by Peter Karrie. Containing the most blood-curdling “you try my patience” in the show’s history. He is perfectly deranged. And I have had the great pleasure of performing with him many times. Good old Pete!

The Overture - Aidan Bradley.

My cover of the Overture from The Phantom of the Opera. I transcribed the music entirely by ear, and play the organ, guitar and bass parts on this track. The other instruments were created by me using MIDI in a music writing programme called Sibelius. I was bored when I made this. let me know what you think! The Organ part was very, VERY difficult to play!!!

The Phantom of the Opera (Male Vocals Only)

Yet ANOTHER singalong one! If you fancy yourself as a Christine, please record yourself singing this with me! Usual rules apply, credit me, etc. Enjoy! :)

Here’s another singalong one! A rough version of my Final Lair as The Phantom (will be re-recorded at some point, as this one is a bit more raw emotion than singing skill). Needs a Raoul and a Christine, so get on it folks! Same rules as before, credit me etc :) Song is downloadable from Soundcloud!

Enjoy!

So while cleaning house today I found my copy of the 2004 Phantom in pieces. It’s a bittersweet feeling; this movie introduced me to the Phantom and is one of the reasons I became an actor, but then I remember Gerard Butler…and it seems somewhat justified.

Lot 666 then. A DVD… in pieces. Some of you may recall the strange affair of Joel Schumacher’s Phantom of the Opera, a mystery never fully explained. We are told, ladies and gentlemen, that this is the very film that figures the “Gerik” disaster. Our fandom has hammered it to pieces in the vain hope that it will never be re-assembled. Perhaps we can frighten away the ghost of this beautiful but tragically miscast movie with a new remake… Tom Hooper?

Me, performing the title song from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit musical. Christine’s part is sung here by the fabulously talented Brianna Leigh Coben from the United States, who at just 15 years old (and relatively untrained) is the first amateur singer I have met who can do this song justice. Just listen for yourself, and enjoy! Please like and reblog, share it around!

An instrumental version of The Beauty Underneath, from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Love Never Dies.

Created by me (because no backing tracks seem to exist, either official or fanmande). Feel free to download and sing/record over! Make sure you credit me with it’s creation, though. I play most of the instruments on this track, and programmed the rest.

Enjoy!

Me, singing The Music of the Night from The Phantom of the Opera, by Andrew Lloyd Webber. This isn’t necessarily my best performance of this song, as I had not sung over this particular backing track for some time, so there are some timing issues. Still, I hope you enjoy! Share it around, comment, like, whatever! I always love feedback!

This is also my audition song for the upcoming Phantom Tumblr recording!
