Does your girlfriend sing?

Sometimes, to herself. When she thinks i’m not listening :P

I am having an argument on Youtube with an idiot who seems to think he knows more about singing than I do.

His theoretical knowledge is pretty sound, but he seems convinced (despite the fact that he himself does not sing, as he admitted) that he knows more about all voice types/tones and their capabilities than I do.

Me.

A fully qualified singing teacher, with a variety of diplomas and certificates in the field hanging on my wall. An extremely capable and experienced vocalist, versed in many many styles. More to the point, a musician who writes music for differing voice types and comprehensively understands the strengths, weaknesses and limitations of human voices both female and male, average and exceptional.

Need I go on? I just shouldn’t get into arguments with people on youtube, because there are only so many ways I can politely and eloquently tell someone that they are a fucking idiot within the character allowance, before I start losing my temper and becoming crude.

Just discovered something interesting…

Tomorrow is my singing audition for The Witches of Eastwick. I’m going for the part of Michael, who I just realised was played by Peter Jöback in the original West End cast. Listening to the OLC recording of “Something” (the song I have to audition with), I think he sings it beautifully!

Came 1st in the 1st round of a Singing competition today.

Was very surprised, as the standard was incredibly high! I sang “I Want it All” by Queen.

I’m rather chuffed with myself! :)

Me singing Musik der Nacht from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Fantom der Oper.

This is of course Music of the Night from The Phantom of the Opera, but sung in German. I did this because German is my second language and I have always loved the German lyrics to this song, particularly when it is sung by the great Tomos Schulze, Germany’s best Phantom. Let me know what you think! I’m still taking song requests, so keep them coming. Maybe some of you would like to hear German versions of other songs? If so, let me know.

Cheers. x

Me singing Bring Him Home from Claude-Michel Schonberg’s Les Miserables.

I love this song and this musical. This is sung by Jean Valjean as a plea to God to protect young Marius.

I’m still taking on requests! Let me know what you think. I had a slight head cold whilst recording this one.

Cheers.

Me singing When She Loved Me - Jessie’s Song from Toy Story 2.

This is a gorgeous song and still brings a tear to my eye when I hear it sung by the original artist.

This song also features me on the piano.

In terms of recording, this is much better quality! I now have a sound desk, microphones, leads etc, to be able to make professional recordings. Hope you like this cover!

Spread it around and let me know what you think, and give me a request for whatever song you’d like me to sing next! :)

Upcoming covers are:

Bring Him Home - Les Miserables
I’m Yours - Jason Mraz

Musik der Nacht - Fantom der Oper.
Razzle Dazzle - Chicago

Ciao!

Here’s another one! This time I take two roles, singing the schizophrenic Confrontation from Frank Wildhorn’s Jekyll and Hyde. I starred in this role a year or so ago in a great school production, and this song was extremely effective, thanks to some very clever lighting and staging.

As before, my singing audio quality isn’t amazing as it was recorded on a laptop, which doesn’t deal well with loud sounds.

Hope you enjoy it! Give me requests for more songs from Musicals or anything!

A video to accompany my last video.

This is Me, singing The Music of the Night from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera. This is my favourite song from my favourite musical.

The song is accompanied by photographs of me in concert, with various bands and ensembles as a singer and keyboard player.

The quality of the vocal audio is not perfect as it was recorded on Garage Band, using a laptop’s internal microphone. Still, i’m pleased with this performance. Feedback would be much appreciated :)

I do not own the rights to this song. This song belongs to Andrew Lloyd Webber, the Really Useful Group Ltd. and their affiliates. No copyright infringement intended.

Me, singing Music of the Night from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera. Like last time, the audio quality is not perfect, but not bad. It was made using Garage Band and the internal microphone of a laptop. I did the best I could to edit the sound. I was sat down whilst singing this. This is my dream role, and i’d appreciate feedback. I seek only to become better.
